I'm going to ask: are staff able to UNDELETE those deleted photos (if appropriate)?? ie: through "history".

If you are talking volunteer staff, I’m almost positive the answer is no. If they deleted the attachments 1st, the photos are gone AFAIK.

It is interesting that we worry over a member going back and editing his post to mess up old threads, but we do allow them to delete their photos.

Awhile back I had a new member post 2 pics, but accidentally posted the second one like 4 times. Then his next post was apologizing for his mistake. I went to delete the extraneous photos, But ended up deleting all of them. I looked everywhere trying to find out how to undo my mess up. Could not find a thing. Then I went back to the tab where his post was (Yea, I am a tab junkie, 141 some active right now). Went backwards, and there was the pic. I was able to download it, and then upload it to fix my mess up.

I've done that as well. Learned early not to use that DELETE function that the photo has with it and only delete the extra photos in the thread itself.

I include my post for context:

I'm thinking of those who get a hair you-know-where 😉 and (try to) delete all their previous posts because they think they've been wronged.

We can restore those posts but ......

But if they knew enough to first delete their attachments, then those aren’t recoverable by simply restoring the posts.

Yup, because it was still in your browser cache, you could download it (actually just copied from cache), and replace it in the original post.

Not quite the same as restoring it though. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that a super-admin or VS I.T. could easily, actually, restore the pic. Nothing really ever gets permanently deleted in the digital world. It’s always cached somewhere.

Correct, we don't have a menu method to be able to "undelete" a deleted photo right now.

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm thinking not good for items for sale photos.

Perhaps quoting sales posts when adding our 'forum not responsible...buyer beware' might be wise as it includes attachments within the quote.

Not that we have many disputes.
I only recall two in my entire membership (pre and post being staff).
Just thinking out loud.

This fix was in relation to this bug, nothing else has changed.

You should still be able to restore the post through Edit History.
