We get those, as well. We just deal with them once they cross the line, which often happens on their first post.

The Sharktech ISP is the first thing that raises red flags for me, just like it would if it was colocrossing, M247, or any one of quite a few ISP's that I know from experience are bad players.

Good call, most do not convert but at least they are aware of the Vendor FAQ.

Actually did that the other day, deleted his thread about 4x4 parts he was manufacturing and added a note to him explaining why. Happens occasionally.

I have deleted a couple of threads on PacificaForums where they were definitely a vendor. I also notified them about the Vendor FAQ. They did not convert.

Maybe it would be worthwhile having a lower level of venodr. Maybe a bit above a premium member, and they can have a few continues adds in the classifieds, but not get their own node.

That is coming down the line with VSS or Vendor Self Serve which is currently being tested on a communties.

Both scammers/spammers were able to register, to pass all security measures and to start threads without being sent to the approval queue.
Especially the 1st one makes me wonder because its thread title is showing quite lot words which should have triggered our security measures.
It would have been great the 2nd one would have been deteted somehow as well.

Could someone from VerticalScope have a look into this, please.
I ask because perhaps something was turned off somehow due to the weekly update.

The approval queue is not perfect and if the users are real people and not bots signing up they are much harder to catch.

Not seeing any spam tools that got tweaked or reverted. I do see @Jan looked at one of these accounts also.

Are you using the "Spam Ban" tool on these? Leaving those threads in the Yang section might not be feeding the spam tools the correct info that they need to work properly.

^ remember that one earlier today as a flagged account. The approval queue had only one IP-match with one banned user to show for, and in the spirit of "forgiveness as a permanent attitude" I let him pass. I'd rather ban someone based on actual spam than on an incorrect assumption someone is a spammer. Spam never really lasts long on our forum anyway.

Yes, I use the spam clean option on any scammer/spammer within the 1st 30 days.
After having spam cleaned him I move the related threads to our trash section "Yang".
So the thread was not created in "Yang" by the spammer originally.
